Thanks to the pouring rain and subsequent snow on Saturday, baseball tryouts were rescheduled for Monday. It snowed all day Saturday and yet by Monday evening, the snow was all melted. With a chill in the air, we were able to have tryouts. They began by lining up the boys police style against the fence with their backs to the coaches. Here is Spencer and his friend, Hadley, waiting to be frisked, I mean called, to the line up.
The first drill was picking up a grounder and then a quick throw to first base. Look at his form! He surprised his mom for sure and got lots of encouragement (nice arm!) from the coaches.
Next came the batting. The photo is of Spencer warming up and lets just say he needs some work on his form. He did make contact with 2 of the 5 pitches so he did pretty well. Coming from two parents with no athletic abilities or even athletic pursuits, he did a great job! Now we just hope a good coach picks him!!
